Life & Career Empowerment Training Series

Those Baxters offer a Life & Career Empowerment Training Series—a transformative, interactive curriculum designed to support the vocational and personal growth of your participants.

Each training session is 2 to 3 hours in length and may include group discussions, games, icebreakers, role-playing, and/or guided activities.

Available Workshops:

Personal Empowerment & Goal Setting

What does your ideal life look like—and what’s holding you back from living it? This session empowers participants to explore those questions and take meaningful action. Through proven self-coaching strategies, you’ll identify key focus areas, improve time management, and create a personal life plan with achievable goals. Leave with a clear vision and the tools to begin building the life you truly want.

Successful Communication & Feedback

Effective communication is at the heart of every successful relationship—professional or personal. In this session, participants learn practical strategies for active listening, understanding communication styles, and applying foundational communication principles. We’ll also explore how to give and receive feedback with a growth mindset, turning it into a powerful tool for collaboration, performance, and connection.

How to Be a Team Player

Great teams don’t happen by accident—they're built by individuals who know how to show up for others. This workshop helps participants understand the mindset and behaviors of a strong team player. Learn how to leverage your strengths, support teammates, solve problems, and contribute to a culture of trust, flexibility, and shared success.

Conflict Resolution & Decision-Making

Conflict is a part of life—but with the right tools, it doesn’t have to be destructive. This session equips participants to navigate conflict with emotional intelligence, resolve tension calmly and constructively, and make confident decisions aligned with their values. Learn to transform challenges into opportunities for growth, understanding, and collaboration.

Managing Change & Professionalism

Life is full of transitions—some expected, others not. This training provides tools for adapting to change with resilience and professionalism. Participants will explore common responses to change, develop healthy coping strategies, and build confidence in uncertain times. Whether facing job shifts, personal loss, or life transitions, you'll learn how to face change with clarity and courage.

Interviewing Skills

Confidence is key when it comes to interviews—and preparation makes all the difference. This hands-on workshop helps participants master common interview questions, articulate their strengths, and present their experiences with clarity and poise. Learn how to prepare effectively, practice with purpose, and enter every interview ready to shine.

One-on-One Coaching

We offer customized coaching sessions with Juan or Kala Baxter for individuals seeking focused guidance. These sessions are designed to address personal or professional challenges, provide clarity, and empower individuals to set and achieve meaningful goals. Whether navigating career transitions, building confidence, or overcoming life obstacles, our coaching meets each participant where they are—and helps move them forward.

Testimonials

I have had the privilege of working with Kala and Juan Baxter for almost four years. However, they have been impacting the lives of our program participants at the West Philadelphia Skills Initiative for over six years. Kala and Juan truly exemplify the essence of excellence in guiding and inspiring participants through a journey of growth and discovery.

They both possess an unparalleled depth of knowledge in various topics such as managing change, professionalism and conflict resolution, goal setting, support systems, coaching and so much more. Their mastery of the material is not only comprehensive but is always conveyed with passion that makes complex concepts accessible and engaging. This level of expertise fosters an environment of trust and confidence among participants, setting the stage for an immersive and reflective learning experience.

Beyond the transfer of knowledge, Kala and Juan Baxter serve as a source of inspiration and motivation. Their genuine passion for the work and commitment to each participant’s success is admirable. Their mentorship extends far beyond the workshop sessions, providing valuable guidance and resources to support continued growth. We are very fortunate to have them as part of our facilitation team.

As the new program director, I knew orientation had to be something that would be in line with our mission and values. I also wanted sessions that would be fun and challenging. The Baxter’s brought it all and more. Staff were asking, “Can you bring them back?” I am now working with another organization and will be inviting them to work with my staff here too!

Juan and Kala Baxter have been providing professional trainings for Turning Points for Children CUA for about two years now and their trainings are very engaging, informative, and interactive. Our staff gets excited when they hear that there is a training coming up that is going to be facilitated by The Baxters. As the training manager, I am truly fortunate to have them as a part of our team, providing good, strong professional development workshops for our staff.
